On the Rwanda Stock Exchange the major indices fell as the National Institute of Statistics reported a fall in inflation to 0.7% year-on-year in December from 2.2% a month earlier.
Both RSI and ALSI fell 0.24% and 0.04% to close at 135.05 and 133.43 respectively.
The Bralirwa share price went down 0.67% to close at RWf 149. The counter recorded a turnover of RWf 134,100 from 900 shares traded.
Crystal Telecom and Bank of Kigali moved 1,000 shares and 500 shares to record turnovers of RWf 66,000 and RWf 150,000 respectively.
December Inflation declines
The Urban CPI increased by 0.7% in December 2017 compared to the same month of the previous year. This is mainly due to the rising prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (2.4%), and transport (2.8%).
The monthly CPI decreased by 1.2% in December 2017, mainly due to a 4.5% decrease in food and non-alcoholic beverages.
